Booking terms
Plain terms for a small course. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] before you book.
Who you book with
Courses are run by Nature's Portal, a non-profit association in Portugal. Contributions cover teaching, accommodation and meals, and anything left goes back into the land.
Asking for a place
Asking for a place costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Steven reads every request and replies by email. If there is a place for you, he sends a link to pay the deposit.
Paying
- A €300 deposit per person holds your place. The place is yours as soon as it is paid, and we confirm it by email.
- The rest of the contribution is due eight weeks before the course starts. We email you a payment link well before then.
- Booking within eight weeks of the course, you pay the full contribution at once.
- Payments are taken by Mollie, our payment provider. Card and bank details never reach us. Payments are received by Steven McKay on behalf of Nature's Portal until the association is registered.
If you cancel
- More than eight weeks before the course: your deposit moves to another week, or we refund it less any payment fees.
- Between eight and four weeks before: we refund half of what you have paid, or move all of it to another week.
- Less than four weeks before: we cannot refund, unless we fill your place from the waiting list.
- You can send someone in your place at any time, at no cost. Just tell us their name.
If we cancel
A week runs with at least four people. If we have to cancel, for too few bookings, illness or anything else, you get back everything you have paid, or move it to another week if you prefer. We tell you at least four weeks ahead whenever we can. We cannot cover flights or other travel costs, which is one reason to take out insurance.
Insurance, health and age
- Please bring travel insurance that covers cancellation and outdoor physical work.
- Tell us about any injury or health condition before you book, so we can plan work that suits you. There is always useful work at bench height.
- You need to be 18 or over.
- Steven teaches how to work safely. Please follow his lead on site, and wear the boots and gloves we ask for.
Your right to withdraw
A course on fixed dates is a leisure booking, so the general 14-day right to withdraw from online purchases does not apply. The cancellation terms above apply instead.
Your details
We use your details only to arrange your place and to write to you about it. We do not share them and do not add you to any mailing list. Ask us at any time and we will delete them.
